Position Summary

Naples Botanical Garden is seeking a highly motivated and results oriented Conservation Associate to join our Conservation team focusing on safeguarding and propagation of rare and endangered plant species. The successful candidate will assume a collaborative role across departments to further the Garden’s mission to connect people with plants through efforts to conserve imperiled species. The individual should be detail oriented, and maintain excellent skills in organization, labeling, data management, and communication.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the development of a seed and propagule collection strategy.
Conduct and document seed collection, germination, seed-banking, and propagation protocols.
Perform daily assessment of conservation collections and propagation of materials in production.
Conduct daily horticultural tasks including watering, fertilizing, nursery management.
Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to monitor and eliminate pests and pathogens, while maintaining detailed records of IPM tasks.
Conduct long-term monitoring of re-introduced plant populations.
Collaborate in the assessment of plant species for the IUCN Red-List.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn.
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in a hot and humid environment.
Possess a commitment to the Garden’s mission of connecting people with plants.
Ability to function effectively as a member of a team that includes staff and volunteers, as well as work independently to complete projects.
Be highly motivated and organized with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
