The Certified Arborist Fire Recovery Services will play an integral part of helping citizens and communities recover from disasters—both man-made and natural. Applicants should be passionate about making a difference in the world, and interested in supporting local, state, and federal jurisdictions prepare for and recover from what comes their way. Responsibilities will include: The position will entail conducting individual tree assessments, tree risk assessments, tree location mapping along roadways, and coordination with contractors. Data collection will utilize tablets and GPS equipment. The project is within an area recently burned by one of California’s recent wildfires. The project area includes steep and varied terrain.
Requirements Essential Skills: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years relevant experience and certification as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and/or registration as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) is highly desirable. Additional desired qualifications include experience with GIS, GPS, plant/tree identification, and arboricultural or vegetation management practices. A Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, or other related field is also desirable.
