Senior Sales & Consulting Arborist

Location: Austin, TX
Salary: $80,000 salary + commission = $130,000+ Annual Compensation

Heritage Tree Care is looking for an experienced arborist who can combine strong sales ability with advanced technical knowledge, professional consulting and the judgment to manage complex client relationships and projects.

This is not a cold-calling position. You’ll step into an established client base and receive qualified opportunities generated by Heritage. Our work ranges from high-end residential properties to commercial, municipal, institutional, landscape architecture and construction-related projects throughout Central Texas.

We’re intentionally searching beyond the Austin area for the right person. You do not need to bring an existing local book of business. For an experienced arborist considering a move to Central Texas, this is an opportunity to step into established relationships, interesting work and a company with production and office support already in place.

Why Join Heritage Tree Care?

Heritage Tree Care is an established Central Texas tree-care company with experienced crews, a strong client base and the opportunity to work on projects that go well beyond routine residential tree care. We're locally owned and have been serving Central Texas for over 15 years.

An Established Client Base

You won’t be expected to build a book of business from scratch. You’ll be introduced into existing client relationships and receive qualified opportunities generated by Heritage.

Interesting, High-Profile Work

Heritage works with homeowners, municipalities, school districts, landscape architecture and design firms, contractors, developers and other professional clients throughout Central Texas.

Our work has included Austin’s Hike & Bike Trail, Zilker Park, the San Marcos River and Austin ISD, along with high-end residential properties and complex commercial projects.

Work That Uses Your Experience

This role is intended for someone who wants to do more than sell routine tree work. You may be involved in tree preservation, consulting, construction coordination, municipal and institutional projects, complex removals, plant health care and other situations that require strong arboricultural judgment.

Autonomy With Support

Experienced arborists are trusted to manage their clients, make sound recommendations and use good judgment. You’ll also have experienced production crews, office support, other arborists and direct access to ownership when a project requires additional input.

Professional Growth

Heritage supports ISA credentials, continuing education, industry training and continued professional development. There is room to deepen your technical expertise, expand your consulting work and take on more complex clients and projects over time.

Opportunity to Have an Impact

The Senior role is producer-first, but it is also a chance to become an important part of the company. Someone who demonstrates strong judgment, accountability and leadership may have the opportunity to explore broader company opportunities.

About the Job

As a Senior Sales & Consulting Arborist, you’ll manage an established portfolio of Heritage Tree Care clients, respond to qualified sales opportunities and provide professional arboricultural consulting.

You’ll work with residential, commercial, municipal and professional clients, including larger or more complex projects that require strong technical judgment, clear communication and coordination with multiple stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Meet with clients to evaluate tree-care needs and recommend appropriate services
  • Prepare clear proposals with accurate scope and pricing
  • Follow up consistently and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Provide professional arboricultural consulting and technical recommendations
  • Work with contractors, landscape professionals, municipalities, school districts and other project stakeholders
  • Manage complex or high-value projects from consultation through completion
  • Coordinate closely with production and office teams
  • Stay involved when project conditions change or technical questions arise
  • Maintain accurate client, proposal, consulting and project records
  • Serve as a technical resource when experienced arboricultural input is needed

Key Responsibilities

Client Consultation & Sales

Manage an established client portfolio, evaluate tree-care needs, explain recommendations clearly, prepare proposals and follow up consistently. Build strong client relationships and help move qualified opportunities from consultation through approval.

Arboricultural Consulting

Provide professional arboricultural consulting on tree health, preservation, risk, construction impacts and other technical concerns. Prepare reports, recommendations and supporting documentation when appropriate.

Complex Project Coordination

Manage larger or more involved projects that may include contractors, municipalities, school districts, developers, landscape professionals or other stakeholders. Keep scope, communication, expectations and project details organized from the initial consultation through completion.

Organization & Follow-Through

Manage appointments, proposals, consulting work, client communication, CRM records and active project details accurately and on time. Stay engaged when conditions change or additional follow-up is needed.

Teamwork & Accountability

Coordinate closely with production and office teams, communicate clearly before work begins and take responsibility for helping ensure what was sold is successfully delivered.

Technical Judgment & Broader Contribution

Use your experience to help solve more complicated arboricultural and client situations. Serve as a technical resource when appropriate and contribute practical judgment beyond your own individual accounts.

About You

You’re an experienced arborist who can combine strong technical knowledge with good business judgment, clear communication and dependable follow-through.

You’re comfortable discussing scope and price, asking for the work and helping clients make informed decisions without relying on pressure-based sales tactics. You can also step into more complicated situations, work with multiple stakeholders and manage projects that require more coordination than a typical residential tree-care job.

You work independently without operating in a silo. You communicate well with clients, crews, office staff and ownership, recognize when others need to be involved and take responsibility for seeing work through.

You’re also interested in continuing to grow professionally and are capable of taking on greater responsibility over time if the opportunity and fit are right.

Qualifications

Required

  • ISA Certified Arborist credential
  • Significant professional tree-care experience with strong arboricultural knowledge
  • Experience consulting with clients, estimating and selling tree-care work
  • Professional arboricultural consulting experience
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication, organization and follow-through
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred

  • TRAQ or other advanced ISA credentials
  • Commercial, municipal, construction or tree-preservation experience
  • Experience working with municipalities, school districts, contractors or other professional clients
  • Experience in a multi-crew tree-care operation
  • CRM experience
  • Leadership, mentoring or broader operational experience

Company Vehicle & Equipment

A company vehicle, laptop, smartphone and the arborist tools and equipment needed for the position are provided.

Paid Time Off

Paid time off and company holidays are included as part of the compensation package.

Professional Development

Heritage supports advanced ISA credentials, continuing education, industry training, conferences and ongoing professional development.

Schedule & Work Environment

The normal schedule for this position is Monday–Friday, approximately 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with flexibility as needed for client appointments, consulting work and project needs. Sales Arborists should generally remain available by phone through 5:00 PM.

This is a field-based, client-facing role that also requires regular coordination with our office and production teams. You’ll spend time visiting properties throughout Central Texas, preparing proposals and consulting documentation, communicating with clients and staying connected to active projects.

Considering a Move to Austin?

We’re actively interested in experienced arborists from outside Central Texas. You do not need to bring an established local book of business with you. This role comes with existing client relationships, company-generated opportunities and the support of an established production and office team.

For the right candidate, we are open to discussing relocation support.
