Job Title: Urban Forestry Manager

Community Greening is an urban forestry non-profit based in Palm Beach County that has planted morethan 6,000 trees with 4,000 volunteers since 2016.

Community Greening is a member of the Arbor DayFoundation’s Alliance for Community Trees, a group of community-based organizations dedicated to theplanting and caring of trees. Programming includes tree plantings at parks, schools, churches, right of ways, urban orchards, treegiveaways and the Youth Tree Team.

Community Greening envisions an engaged community creatingsustainable urban green spaces and a vibrant tree canopy to equitably strengthen our environment,economy, society, and health.

Community Greening’s approach is getting local and national recognition including:

• Regional Directors’ Honor Award” from the US Fish and Wildlife Service
• “Non-Profit of the Year” from the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce
• “Tree Advocacy Group of the Year” from the Florida Urban Forestry Council

Duties and responsibilities:

• Leads all urban forestry projects and oversees the successful completion of all Community Greeningtree plantings and giveaways
• Supervise and manages tree technicians and volunteers
• Manage vehicles, trailers, and tools includes inventory and maintenance
• Manage Community Greening nursery and track inventory
• Manage nursery relationship: reserve trees at nurseries, maximize quality, price, species diversity,coordinate purchasing and delivery of nursery stock
• Manage tree maintenance and watering schedules
• Implement planting projects in accordance with grants and contracts and monitor results
• Manage data related to tree inventory and environmental benefits
• Manage and track all projects and create final reports
• Approve tree planting plans and make recommendations for appropriate species and landscapematerial

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: BS or MS degree in natural resources, urban forestry, forestry, horticulture or relateddiscipline
• Minimum of 5 years experience in urban forest management, ornamental horticulture or forestry
• Certification: International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist credential or the ability to obtainone within one year of appointment
• Driving: Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pull a trailer
• Knowledgeable about Florida tree species and ecology
• Computer: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Budgeting: Experience formulating and adhering to set project budgets
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively
• Ability to work ina physically demanding environment that requires repetitive bending, lifting, andshoveling
• Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
