Tree Groundsman

Location: Rochester, NY
Salary: $15-20

Birchcrest Tree and Landscape, Inc. is looking for a year-round Tree Groundsperson with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the tree care industry.

Duties may include:

• Hauling wood and brush from the tree to the truck, using various hand and power tools, assisting tree climbers, and cleaning the job site
• Gathers brush and feeds brush into woodchipper
• Uses a chainsaw to cut brush, logs and stumps of larger trees
• Services truck, chipper, and equipment, and maintains them in a neat, clean, and specified mechanical state
• Works on unlevel ground
• Works in all temperatures and weather and will be exposed to nature
• Performs other related work, as assigned by supervisors

Requirements include:

• Must be able to prune and remove trees in a safe manner while utilizing machinery
• Self-motivated individual able to work well with a team of co-workers
• Experience with safe operation of chainsaws and other pruning equipment
• Excellent work habits and organizational skills
• Good communication and customer service skills
• ISA Certified Arborist status, and/or CDL highly desirable but not required

Minimum Requirements

• Must be able to wear necessary PPE
• Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments
• Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment
• Clean driver's license
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test
• Must be able to pass criminal background check
• **Given the dangerous nature of the work required, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time**

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, move and maneuver heavy weights of 10 pounds frequently, and weights of up to 50 pounds
• Gripping
• Climbing
• Climbing on and off truck
• Balancing
• Pulling and pushing
