Project Manager

Location: East Hampton, New York

Whitmores Inc. offers a unique opportunity for those aiming to work in the landscape industry, and for individuals who enjoy plants and the outdoors, and seek to work in a dynamic environment. We are a full-spectrum landscape company offering our clients services for design, landscape contracting, plant health care, tree care, gardens, property maintenance, masonry, carpentry, and a tree farm. Our tree farm is over 200 acres of production fields and includes greenhouses and a container operation.

We specialize in high-quality, large trees and shrubs. Our project managers may assist homeowners, contractors, designers, Landscape Architects and industry professionals on projects ranging from simple plantings to more complex landscape design and installations. Your responsibilities will include:


o Supervise and coordinate project, insuring work is completed on time and on budget
o Ensure projects are completed according to industry and Company standards
o Manage and administrate estimates, material and plant take offs, changes to orders, project scope and estimates, in an
efficient, timely and accurate manner
o Strong on-going communication with clients and team
o Weekly site visits for current projects (work vehicle provided)
o Represent Company at meetings with owners, architects and designers
o Provide follow-up customer service on completed projects
o Manage project budgets; know where each project is at all times. Immediately reports to Division Manager any jobs deviating from budgets of time, schedule, cost or any other factor so appropriates adjustments can be made to maximize end result
o Manage change order process and administration
o Coordinates with production and field personnel to ensure all material and supplies reach the job site as scheduled and
required
o Site crew scheduling, management, and supervision to ensure efficient and safe working conditions
o Assists in preparing any contract amendments
o Make project site visits noting progress and areas of concern
o Represent Company at construction meetings with owners and architects
o Attend project scope reviews and coordinate pre-construction meetings
o Approves time cards, conducts performance reviews and handles human resource concerns for any direct reports
o Stay aware of best practices. Develop and recommend improved work methods and standards

 

Qualifications:


o Self-motivated, detail oriented, energetic professional who does not mind a broad range of differing responsibilities
o Must be able to work independently and as part of team
o Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
o Excellent verbal and written communication
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
o Results, sales and growth oriented
o Effective problem-solving skills
o Must be able to repeatedly lift 25lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and be able to work in outdoor environment for
extended periods of time in all weather conditions
o Knowledge of trees, shrubs and perennials is a benefit, but is not required
o A valid driver’s license with safe driving record
o Drug free

Experience as a project manager or within the landscaping or construction industry is preferred. Training is available.
