Forestry Technician

Location: Aurora, CO
Salary: $41,000 to $45,000 depending on experience

The city of Aurora is currently has four climber positions open. We have three aerial crews that perform all the maintenance work for our 50,000 city trees. In addition to basic maintenance we also have a small tree nursery to trial new species for our unique climate, are starting some PHC work, and monitor our trees for insects and diseases. Many of our staff teach courses at one of the local community colleges. We are first and foremost, public servants who strive to maintain a high quality of life for our citizens.

-A work environment that values teaching. We have two US Department of Labor apprenticeships for arborists and tree trimmers. Technicians are expected to train tree trimer apprentices in the basic skills of the trade. Technicians are also expected to be registered arborist apprentices to reach the journeyworker level of competency as arborists. Our staff teach apprenticeship courses in tree care at one of the local community colleges.

Requirements:

-At least 18 months documented experience as a tree climber.

-CDL Class B (within 6 months of employment).

-ISA Certified Tree Worker (within 6 months of employement)
