ISA Announces TCC Schedule for 2024

ISA Announces TCC Schedule for 2024

ISA is excited to announce the dates and locations for the upcoming 2024 Tree Climbing Championships (TCC). The events will be held at the following dates and locations:

- Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship: Malaysia on 25-28 April

- European Tree Climbing Championship: Jastrebarksko, Croatia on 4-7 July

- International Tree Climbing Championship: Atlanta, Georgia, US on 25-27 October

Traditionally, NATCC takes place after ITCC, and as a result, the winner of the NATCC would qualify for the following year's ITCC; however, the NATCC qualifier for 2025 ITCC will be hosted in February 2025. The NATCC qualifier for the 2024 ITCC was hosted in Washington, DC, in October 2023. This shift will better align with the annual tree climbing championship schedule and provide no interruption in competition qualifiers, even though there will not be a NATCC in the 2024 calendar year. NATCC will be held in February moving forward.

Additionally, the decision to change the time for the ITCC was made to ensure the safety of competitors, volunteers, and staff. ISA planned to hold the 2024 ITCC in conjunction with our ISA Annual International Conference in August; however, after receiving feedback from our competitors, volunteers, and an official recommendation from our ITCC Operations Committee, it became clear that a new approach was warranted. During the August timeframe ITCC was initially scheduled for in 2024, Atlanta regularly experiences heat advisories that require athletes to limit their exposure to the extreme heat index.

We realize a change of this magnitude impacts schedules and have worked closely with our components to ensure this change would not interfere with previously scheduled events or negatively impact 2024 ITCC qualifying events. This change aligns well with the schedule for the 2025 ITCC in October in Christchurch, New Zealand.

We are looking forward to next year’s events and we wish everyone good luck in the upcoming TCC season.
