Urban Forestry Intern

Location: Golden, CO
Salary: $16/hr

Just west of downtown Denver, the City of Golden is offering a paid internship for the summer of 2021. Start and stop dates are flexible, but available time is May- August. This opportunity will allow you a hands on experience of what it is like to be a city arborist. As a small municipality, we can provide training and care specialized to your knowledge, experience, and ambition level. We are ideally looking for a student of forestry, or a closely related field, who is interested in pursuing future career options within arboriculture. The forestry intern can expect to experience the following job duties which vary each week.

Watering- gain familiarity with our inventory application- Cartegraph by ArcGIS

Trimming Operations- proper pruning cuts, chipping, clean up, and climbing exposure

Planting Efforts- site location, soil amendments, tree stakes, and mulching

General City Forestry Procedures- tree safety inspections, inventory, contractor relationships, Emerald Ash Borer injections, resident visits, storm damage, etc.
