Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with stakeholders to research, analyze, evaluate, recommend, and communicate best management practices for integrated vegetation management in the electric utility industry.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on electric utility vegetation management matters
- Seek stakeholders to provide vegetation management consulting services focused on safety, reliability, compliance, operational and cost effectiveness, and reduction of risks
- Create, develop, and recommend stakeholder focused vegetation management solutions
- Partner with stakeholders to understand their vegetation management problems, challenges, objectives, and goals
- Design, write, and implement scopes of work for vegetation management projects
- Determine budget and track expenses for vegetation management projects
- Review stakeholder’s current work practices, processes, guidelines, specifications, and policies
- Design and execute assessment of stakeholder’s vegetation management program for transmission and distribution facilities
- Design and execute protocol for vegetation management workload and condition surveys and tree risk assessment
- Design and execute protocol for vegetation management state and federal regulatory compliance projects
- Design and execute protocol for vegetation management wildfire risk assessment
- Understand and promote the use of remote sensing technology for vegetation management assessment
- Provide comprehensive reports and presentations to stakeholders on vegetation management project recommendations
- Participate in vegetation management industry conferences
- Be in the forefront of industry best management practices for utility vegetation management
Qualifications
- Previous experience and knowledge of integrated vegetation management and best management practices for electric utilities
- Familiar with the utility vegetation management industry (UVM) including associations and contractors
- Competence proving quality assurance/quality control for all work projects submitted to stakeholders
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage the expectations of stakeholders, FEP staff and third parties which may be necessary to complete the work
- Interpersonal skills that include a teamwork attitude with a focus on meeting stakeholder need while striving for an enjoyable work environment for all FEP staff
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, urban forestry/arboriculture, or closely related field
- ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Utility Specialist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification
- Current or former State certified pesticide applicator
- At least 5 years’ experience in the electric utility vegetation management for transmission and distribution facilities
