At ISA, our biggest priority is the health and safety of our members, credential holders, credential candidates, partners, volunteers, and staff. As the global landscape changes daily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and government and public health officials work to contain this virus and minimize the spread, I wanted to personally reach out to you and let you know the contingencies ISA is putting in place.

Update on ISA 2020 Asia Pacific and ISA 2020 European Tree Climbing Championships

After carefully consulting with data from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the coronavirus (COVID-19) and key stakeholders in the events, we have decided to cancel the 2020 ISA Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship (APTCC) in Singapore originally scheduled for 1-3 May and the 2020 ISA European Tree Climbing Championship. 

Update on ISA 2020 Conference

Based on the current situation, ISA plans to hold the 2020 Annual International Conference and Trade Show, planned for 9-12 August in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However, with the continuing developments surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), ISA is continually monitoring the evolving climate and reviewing information shared by global organizations, health authorities, and local and federal government agencies.

ISA Celebrates Women in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry

In honor of International Women’s Day (8 March 2020) and Women’s History Month, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) will feature stories about women in the arboriculture industry throughout the month to honor their contributions to the industry. We are thrilled to showcase women from around the world and across disciplines as they continue to bring their enthusiasm, determination, and expertise to our profession.

As part of the response to COVID-19, notable health organizations such as the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, along with state and federal governments, are encouraging individuals to stay at home and self-quarantine. During this time ISA encourages our members and credential holders to use this time to continue your arboricultural education.

TCIA and ISA Issue Joint Guidance to Assist Tree Care Companies

ISA and the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) have issued guidance to assist their members in response to the spread of COVID-19. As more state and local governments increase quarantine measures, TCIA and ISA are encouraging governments to ensure tree care companies and arborists are deemed “essential” work and are able to continue to provide vital services in this time of national emergency.
