ISA and TREE Fund Launch New Research Grant

The Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (TREE Fund) and ISA announced a new research fund during the ISA 2026 Annual International Conference in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.

“One of the pillars of ISA’s mission is to support research that contributes to healthier trees, sustainable communities and promotes the professional practice of arboriculture,” said ISA CEO and Executive Director Caitlyn Pollihan. “The ISA board's decision to invest into research, guided by the insights of ISA members, opens an exciting opportunity to further this mission.”

The International Society of Arboriculture Research Grant will be hosted by TREE Fund. This new program will be available for applications in January 2027 and will award up to $50,000 in new grant money each cycle.

"TREE Fund is thrilled to partner with ISA to advance arboriculture research,” said TREE Fund president and CEO Paul Putman, PhD. “This new fund positions ISA at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation."

Areas of focus for the Winter 2027 Application Cycle will be announced in late 2026 and may be updated each year. Additional details regarding this new grant program will be available soon through treefund.org
