The Davey Tree Expert Company—an organization focused on research-driven tree services, grounds maintenance and environmental and utility infrastructure consulting—has been part of ISA's Canopy Partner program since its inception. 

The ISA Canopy Partners program is a collaborative initiative with industry leaders to better promote the professional practice of arboriculture, inform the public about the benefits of trees and provide a global network of arborists, urban foresters and people who care for trees. 

Kara Mayle, manager of community engagement at The Davey Tree Expert Company, said becoming an ISA Canopy Partner has enabled Davey to better support research, education and professional development in arboriculture. 

“ISA's mission reflects many of Davey's core values, specifically expertise, stewardship and leadership,” Mayle said. “We are both committed to advancing arboriculture through education and research, promoting best practices and helping the public understand the importance of healthy trees. By supporting professional development and encouraging collaboration across the industry, ISA helps cultivate the knowledgeable, responsible tree care professionals that Davey strives to develop and support.” 

Mayle added it is through participation in the broader arboriculture industry that challenges can be tackled, support for aspiring arborists can be fostered and healthier communities and urban forests can thrive.  

Beyond the everyday work, Davey participates in outreach initiatives for environmental stewardship and community engagement, including tree-planting partnerships with the Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Pittsburgh Penguins. These efforts aim to enhance green spaces in underserved communities and raise awareness about the benefits of trees. 

“Davey employees are active members of the communities they serve,” Mayle said. “Our Green Leaders program encourages our employees to volunteer their time towards anything that’s meaningful to them, such as volunteering with a local organization, coaching their child’s sports team, donating tree or landscape work and much more.” 

These initiatives enable employees to forge meaningful relationships with their communities and create a positive influence in the areas where they live and work—benefiting all those involved.
