Congratulations to Aline Sandate and Miguel Huérfano from the Asociación Mexicana de Arboricultura (Mexican Arboriculture Association) on winning the ISA 2024 Latin American Tree Climbing Championship (LATCC).
The event, which took place from 29 November to 1 December in Bogotá, Colombia, brought together 20 skilled climbers from nine different countries. As the International Society of Arboriculture's newest regional event, the LATCC highlighted the incredible talent and passion for arboriculture across Latin America.
"We are excited to welcome the LATCC into the ISA family," said Caitlyn Pollihan, ISA’s CEO and Executive Director. “Tree Climbing Competitions (TCCs) have always been places for innovation and learning, and we look forward to continuing to grow alongside the region.”
Andres Ochoa, a member of the LATCC Operations Committee, expressed optimism about the future of the arboriculture industry in the region. "The arboriculture industry is still young in many countries here and virtually unknown in others. The LATCC is not just about winning a medal—it's about learning, exchanging knowledge, and helping competitors develop new skills they might not have in their local environments."
The LATCC provided a platform for climbers to demonstrate their expertise while showcasing the best practices of arboriculture. This was not just a competition, but an educational event that emphasized the importance of skill-building and safety in the field, enlightening both competitors and spectators.
“We are so excited about adding this regional event to our ISA Championship series,” said Pollihan. “A huge thank you to all the competitors and volunteers for their hard work and dedication in making this event a success.”
Once again, congratulations to Aline Sandate and Miguel Huérfano on their outstanding achievements. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who participated in and supported this groundbreaking event. Your contributions were invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Thank you to our ITCC sponsors, Global TCC Partner Husqvarna, and volunteers who helped make this exciting event.
