Call for Applications for Z133 Accredited Standards Committee Participation

The call for applications for participating in the next cycle of the Z133 Accredited Standards Committee (Z133 Committee) is now open until 15 July 2024.

The Z133 Committee is responsible for reviewing and developing the American National Standard for Arboricultural Operations—Safety Requirements (Z133 standard), which is published by ISA on a five-year cycle. The Z133 standard is the United States safety standard for use across the arboriculture industry.

In April, the Z133 Accredited Standards Committee held its last in-person meeting of the current publication cycle. This brings the committee one step closer to publishing a new edition of the safety standard, expected by the end of this year.

Participants on the next cycle of the committee will engage from 2025 to 2029, reviewing the standard and weighing whether any changes need to be made to improve safety outcomes, enhance clarity, or stay current with changes in the industry.

Participation in the Z133 standards process is open to all parties who are directly and materially interested in the standard. The current call for applications is open to anyone who would like to participate through one of the following avenues:

  • service as the chair or vice chair
  • voting membership on the consensus committee
  • membership on task groups

(Participation is also available by meeting participation or by public review and comment, which do not require an application.)

The deadline for applications is 11:59pm Eastern Time, 15 July 2024. Any questions can be directed to [email protected].
