What You’ll Do
Envicom is seeking on-call Arborist Construction Monitors to provide tree protection oversight at active construction sites throughout Southern California. In this role, you’ll help ensure compliance with local tree ordinances, approved tree protection plans, and permit conditions while working closely with construction teams and environmental professionals.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor construction activities around protected native trees and sensitive root zones.
- Verify installation and maintenance of tree protection fencing and other mitigation measures.
- Communicate directly with construction personnel to ensure compliance with approved plans and permit requirements.
- Conduct field inspections and document compliance through daily monitoring logs and photo documentation.
- Review and interpret grading plans, utility plans, and construction drawings to identify potential tree impacts.
- Collaborate with senior arborists, environmental planners, and project managers to resolve field issues efficiently.
- Support high-quality environmental compliance efforts by ensuring work is completed accurately and professionally.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in arboriculture, urban forestry, environmental science, botany, biology, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working on or around construction sites and heavy equipment.
- Experience identifying Southern California native trees and understanding protected tree requirements.
- Strong communication skills and confidence directing construction crews regarding compliance measures.
- Ability to work independently in active field environments and adapt quickly to changing site conditions.
- Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, steep slopes, and varying weather conditions.
- Valid California driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISA Certified Arborist credential (or ability to obtain within six months).
- Prior construction monitoring experience.
- Familiarity with state and local tree protection ordinances and mitigation requirements.
- Experience preparing monitoring reports and compliance documentation.
- Ability to read and cross-reference grading, utility, and site plans.
