What You’ll Do

Envicom is seeking on-call Arborist Field Staff to support tree inventory and survey projects for development and infrastructure projects throughout Southern California.

In this role, you’ll collect and document field data used to prepare arborist reports, tree protection plans, oak woodland reports, and mitigation plans.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct tree inventories and health assessments for native and protected trees.
  • Identify and document Southern California native species including oaks, California walnut, western sycamore, white alder, and toyon.
  • Measure trunk diameter (DBH), map canopy driplines and protected zones, and tag trees in the field.
  • Use GPS/GIS mobile data collection tools to record tree locations and health conditions.
  • Capture high-quality field photography and maintain accurate field notes.
  • Collaborate with arborists, planners, and GIS specialists to support high-quality project deliverables.
  • Ensure field data is accurate, organized, and professionally documented.

 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in arboriculture, urban forestry, environmental science, botany, biology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in tree care, forestry, or environmental fieldwork.
  • Strong plant identification skills for Southern California native species.
  • Experience using GPS/GIS mobile data collection technology.
  • Ability to work independently outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Valid California driver’s license required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • ISA Certified Arborist credential (or ability to obtain within six months).
  • Familiarity with local oak and protected tree ordinances.
  • Ability to read site plans and topographic maps.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-GIS databases.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies and methods.
