Climbing Arborist

Location: Boise, Idaho
Salary: $35-$40/hr

Petersen Tree Experts in Boise, Idaho, is searching for a Climbing Arborist, who will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the health, safety, and beauty of trees within urban and rural landscapes.

This energetic position involves climbing, pruning, and removing trees using specialized equipment while ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Duties

• Lead and work collaboratively with the crew to complete assigned tree care tasks safely and efficiently
• Safely climb trees using ropes, harnesses, and climbing gear to perform pruning, trimming, or removal tasks.
• Install tree support systems such as cabling, bracing, tying, bolting, staking, and guying
• Operate bucket trucks and bucket lifts to access hard-to-reach areas efficiently and securely.
• Implement rigging techniques to safely lower large branches or tree sections during removal or pruning.
• Perform a variety of arboriculture activities, including tree diagnosis, climbing, pruning, removal, stump grinding, and planting
• Maintain and operate specialized equipment, including chippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws
• Participate in the maintenance of gear, tools, and equipment both in the field and at the shop
• Supervise and train crew members in proper tree trimming and safety procedures
• Consistently adhere to ANSI and company safety guidelines

Experience/Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in tree climbing (MRS required), pruning, removal, and arboriculture principles.
• SRT climbing experience preferred
• Hands-on experience operating bucket trucks, ariel lifts, and rigging equipment in an arborist setting
• Proficiency in knot tying and rigging techniques used in tree work
• Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of chippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to ongoing skill development and professional growth
• Valid driver's license - CDL preferred
• ISA Certified Arborist preferred
