September 20, 2011-The Society of Municipal Arborists, in conjunction with the USDA Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program, and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, is launching a municipal forestry internship program for undergraduate college students interested in a career in Municipal Arboriculture. The primary objective of this program is to provide a hands-on experience alongside practicing professionals who will serve as mentors over the internship period and will work to help the students identify and develop the skills needed to be successful practitioners. 2012 Internship Application

August 10, 2011 -The proposed revisions to ANSI Z133.1-2006 (American National Standard for Arboricultural Operations - Safety Requirements), developed by the Accredited Standards Committee Z133, are available for public review from August 12, 2011, through September 11, 2011. This is the second public review period in the current revision cycle. The purpose is to present additional proposed revisions that resulted from public comments and Z133 Committee discussion related to the first public review period in early 2011. A copy of the latest proposed revisions may be obtained on the ISA website, or by contacting Janet Huber at jhuber@isa-arbor.com (217-355-9411, ext. 259). Submit comments in writing to the above email address no later than September 11, 2011. Comments shall be specific to the proposed revisions presented for this public review period with a complete explanation of concerns and suggested alternative language, if applicable.

addition to significant upgrades to existing applications, i-Tree v4.0 offers
three new tools: i-Tree Hydro, Design and Canopy.
February 18, 2011 -The Proposed 2011 ANSI Z133.1-2006 Standard Revisions (American National Standard for Arboricultural Operations - Safety Requirements), developed by the Accredited Standards Committee Z133, are available for public review from February 18, 2011, through April 4, 2011. A copy of the draft standard may be obtained here, or by contacting
Janet Huber at(217-355-9411, ext. 259). Comments must be submitted in writing (by email, if possible) and received at ISA Headquarters no later than April 4, 2011. Comments shall be specific to a particular section(s) within the standard, with a complete explanation of concerns and alternative language, if applicable.
