Title: Put Power Behind Urban Forestry

Summary: The Urban Forestry Section of Indianapolis Parks and Recreation has partnered with Indianapolis Power and Light (IPL) in the Trees for Tomorrow program, which started in 1990. Since then, 20,000 trees have been planted in Indianapolis rights-of-way and parks. IPL provides funding not only for trees, but also for promoting the benefits of urban trees and educating the general public about urban forestry. Indy Parks supports its certified arborists and landscape professionals in the long-term care of trees that are planted. Major non-profit community agencies are engaged to assist with the planting and maintenance, and other utilities are involved in sponsorship.
