Assistant Urban Forestry Supervisor (Parks/Rec Maintenance Crew Leader)

Location: Cincinnati, OH
Salary: $62,831.63 - $84,440.45

The Cincinnati Park Board is looking to fill two Maintenance Crew Leader (MCL) vacancies within our Natural Resources Division. 

One opening is within our Urban Forestry (UF) section and will work alongside the Supervisor of Urban Forestry and assigned arborist staff to coordinate, manage, and oversee in-house tree care operations within the City of Cincinnati rights-of-way, Parks, and/or other public properties. This individual will perform the role of the Assistant Urban Forestry Supervisor and assist in organizing and managing tree care maintenance to ensure tree issues are addressed promptly and that this work is tracked within a geospatial inventory and work order management system.

Additionally, the UF MCL will be expected to assist their crews in the field as needed and must be skilled in the use and maintenance of arboriculture equipment such as chippers, aerial lifts, and skid steers. Finally, this individual will also be responsible for providing daily guidance to their crews and helping the UF Supervisor and Lead Arborists develop and implement a training program for forestry staff.  Other responsibilities include budget management, assisting with logistics in support of volunteer-based forestry projects, and other related duties as assigned.

 

The second opening is within the Conservation & Land Management (CLM) section. This individual will work alongside the Division Manager and assigned staff to protect, enhance, and restore the public forests and natural surface trail system within Cincinnati Park Board-managed properties. The CLM MCL will directly supervise an assigned staff of 3 full-time Natural Resource Specialists and 6 seasonal employees. This team will aid the MCL in the development and implementation of land management plans, trail restoration, and oversee volunteers engaged in the award-winning Cincinnati Conservation Stewardship program and controlled bow-hunting program.  Other responsibilities include contract management for environmental restoration and trail construction, budget management, community collaboration, and coordination with staff throughout the Department.
