We are currently seeking a Plant Health Care Technician (PHC Tech) to join our team of experts. As a PHC Tech, you will have the opportunity to improve the health of our city’s tree canopy as you steward trees for our customers using Integrated Pest Management (IPM). You will be the face of Arbor Masters in the community.

Your responsibilities as a PHC Tech:

  • Report directly to Branch Manager and work regularly with PHC Expeditor and Service & Production Coordinator (SPC).
  • Travel from one job site to another utilizing maps applications on a mobile device.
  • Contact customers before and after tree care services, review work orders prior to performing services, and note any changes or add-ons before beginning work on site. (commitment)
  • Complete a thorough evaluation of the entire property for plant health concerns before completing your visit, submit notes as needed to the expeditor and arbor advisor. At times communicate directly with the customer. (stewardship)
  • Correctly identify tree species, insects, and diseases. (integrity)
  • Read, comprehend, and adhere to product labels. (integrity)
  • Perform fertilization and other PHC services in accordance with Arbor Masters standard operating procedures, ANSI A300 standards, and OSHA safety regulations. (safety)
  • Properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. (safety)
  • Apply the Integrated Pest Management method of caring for trees by treating trees for soil health (fertilizers and amendments) and, when warranted, fungus and insect pressure. (innovation and stewardship)
  • Utilize CRM software to demonstrate completed work, complete time sheet, verify quantities of product used, and communicate with customers and colleagues. (stewardship)
  • Complete a daily checklist for truck maintenance (including notification of routine maintenance or repair for shop mechanics). (stewardship)
  • Operate, maintain, and repair a variety of specialty PHC equipment used in the field. (safety)

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work as a crew of one in the field but also be a team player with other crew and staff in office.
  • Know your limits; be ready to learn more about trees each day and ask questions when you’re not certain.
  • Be detail oriented and be able to follow directions.
  • Be oriented toward technical work with tools that need calibration and care.
  • Complete labor-intensive outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Navigate uneven terrain, stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and lift in excess of 50lbs daily.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred:

  • Possess a Certified Pesticide Applicator License in the state(s) of services performed.
  • Related work experience or associate’s degree in related field.
