Under general direction, is responsible for implementation, management, and coordination of all phases of one or various Urban Forestry and specialized local, state, or federally funded programs. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. May exercise supervision over assigned staff.

Shifts are subject to change to accommodate evening coverage, rotating weekends and holiday shift work as dictated by business needs and seasonal adjustments.
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday - Saturday
- Essential Job Functions

- Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the efficient operation of the assigned program(s).
- Interprets program guidelines, terms of contracts, and City policy, and procedures for subordinates.
- Establishes and maintains liaison with local, State or Federal agencies, community groups and/or professionals in the building industry.
- Develops personnel requirements, orients, trains, and controls the assigned staff in all facets of project operations and reporting.
- Prepares and reviews proposals and plans for compliance with prescribed rules and regulations, feasibility of implementation, and for quantitative and qualitative performance.
- Coordinates with program planners, project managers, auditors, and other City staff.
- Provides specialized reports as requested by management.
- Prepares and delivers presentations to further the development of the program.
- May assist staff in identifying and solving operational problems.
- May prepare correspondence for the Mayor, City Manager, and Department Director.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required
- Job Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Four (4) years' experience in public administration, economics, social services, business or a related field.
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year minimum of supervisory experience.
- At least two (2) years experience overseeing and coordinating large volunteer groups.
- At least two (2) years experience organizing and overseeing large community based events.
- Experience in developing program expectations and conducting program evaluations
- Experience in supervising program development staff.
- Knowledge of Central/Southern Texas trees.
- Strong desire to work for the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department while serving and interacting with the general public.
- Experience presenting programs to young children.
- Experience delivering educational speeches and presentations.
- Experience working with and coordinating multiple stakeholders.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

- Knowledge of fundamental budget preparation and analyses.
- Knowledge of general fiscal procedures and basic mathematics.
- Knowledge of project planning, contract management, and general grants administration.
- Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
- Supervisory skills.
- Ability to research and interpret guidelines and policies as they apply to related program actions.
- Ability to make presentations and provide information to organizations, such as City Council.
- Ability to research, generate studies, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
