Plant Health Care Technician

Location: St. Paul, MN
Salary:

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for providing fertilization, weed, pest and fungi controls on client properties by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Provides integrated pest management (IPM) on client properties using tankers, spray pumps and spreaders.

 

Performs fertilization and IPM on trees and shrubs using spray and injection tools.

 

Provides excellent customer service.

 

Routes, product mixing and application.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks; where applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:     

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:                                             

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Microsoft Office.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Two or Four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline a plus, but not required.
  • Certified applicators license
  • Valid driver’s license, Class B CDL-Air a plus.
  • ISA Certified Arborist a plus, but not required

 

OTHER SKILL, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to identify local tree species and knowledge of growth rates.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Specific task training.
  • Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority.
