Forestry Technician

Job Description:
This posting is for Forestry Technician temporary positions. Under limited supervision of a Public Works Forestry Program Manager, this position will support a sidewalk tree and vegetation control program within the Office of the City Engineer to ensure safe and functional sidewalks within the city limits. Employee in this position will inspect sidewalks for vegetative obstructions, create work orders and coordinate with PWD tree and vegetation contractors, and communicate with citizens on private tree and vegetation issues. This position will require a significant amount of walking for multiple hours each day.
Minimum Qualifications for Forestry Tech (temp):
The minimum qualification for this position includes graduation from a an accredited high school or equivalent, plus one (1) year of construction, maintenance, or landscaping experience, which included the use of power tools or motorized equipment. One (1) year of additional relevant experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.
Top Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in customer service.
Experience in tree pruning and brush/vegetation clearance.
