Regional Safety Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support crews using safety and human performance tools and practices, ensuring that what the safety team produces is clear, simple, and effective in the field.
  • Observe and coach on safely working with utility line clearance tree tools such as saws (chain and hand), pruners, hanger poles, ropes and rigging tools, saddles, full body harnesses, aerial lifts, and more.
  • Qualify all new hires to insure our safety standards.
  • Prepares, participates in, and/or conducts training classes in his or her assigned geographic region, obtaining the services of specialists when necessary.
  • Schedules weekly crew visits for the purpose of giving safety related guidance, assistance and support.
  • Maintains open communication with Safety Director on all job elated issues and activities.
  • Issues written citations to employees found to be in violation of safety and vehicle operation.
  • Work with field supervision to investigate personal injury, vehicle, and property accidents, assisting with the filing of accident reports, and compiling accident statistics.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Associate degree in a related field or other recognized safety credentials such as, CTSP, or ISA Arborist or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of line clearance experience, climbing experience is a plus.
  • Certified Tree Care Safety Professional credentialed.
  • Driver’s License is required (CDL preferred). Must be familiar with large vehicle regulations.
  • Experience with and knowledge of forestry equipment, vehicles and hardware.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical line construction operations.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
  • Care and use of utility line clearance tree tools such as saws (chain and hand,) pruners, hanger poles, ropes and rigging tools, saddles, full body harnesses, aerial lifts, and more.
  • Tree worker personal protective equipment.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • OSHA, ANSI, DOT and tree industry regulations and standards.
  • Computer literate; must have basic operational knowledge including email, and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Well- groomed and properly dresses in order to promote a professional appearance.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, participating in crew related activities and/or operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
  • Travel from site to site; exposure to dust and noise; some heavy lifting of objects up to 100 pounds, standing, climbing; exposure to heights and high voltage; work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Able and willing to travel via ground and/or air transportation, including driving or riding in a company vehicle for distances up to 600 miles per day.
  • Storm emergencies may require extended out-of-town stays.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background and MVR check.
