Tree Care Sales Assistant
Location: Grandville, MI
Salary:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in a business, estimation, sales, or administration role in TREE CARE industry.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Extensive computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Project management experience.
- Follow through and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive minded and intuitive thinking with an attitude of winning.
- General knowledge of bid process and flow.
- Quality grammar and English skills.
- Personal ability to produce high standard of work product to meet business requirements.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines under pressure.
- Basic organization and priority management of tasks.
- Experience organizing and prioritizing many simultaneous small projects
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates degree in marketing or related sales field.
- Technological experience working with multiple programs including project management software and work planning software
- Right-Of-Way experience
- Desire to learn and become a skilled bid responder.
- Ability to identify weaknesses in one self and seek to improve.
JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the bid responder will be to maintain and organize the position of requests from bid solicitors. It will be critical to respond in a professional and timely manner. This position will be primarily gathering and organizing all data necessary to accurately provide the sales manager with key information to bid projects precisely. The bid responder will be required to take direction directly from the Sales Professional to meet the clients’ requirements and create a written proposal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for responding to all requests in a timely manner to clients.
- Assist in the development and delivery of bids, completing pre-qualification requirements on time.
- Draft and review bid submission content to ensure desired bids are submitted on time and in compliance.
- Analyze documents to ensure the responses created meet the requirements.
- Respond to all RFIs on time with necessary content.
- Work in sequence with the Sales Manager to appropriately complete proposals and all required submission content necessary to win the bid.
- Identify key data needed by reading all requirements and clarifying scope of work details.
- Ability to advance client base by seeking out new opportunities.
- Establishes, develops, maintains and updates filing system for the department. Retrieves information from files when needed. Establishes, develops, maintains and updates library of reference materials.
- Organizes and prioritizes large volumes of information and calls.
- Works in cooperation with various crew members.
- Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies.
- Works independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
- May be responsible for department finances including billing, per diem, documenting corporate credit card expenses, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises content and production of proposals. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include intricate data collection and action item list for each bid and client. Problem solving independently.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40 hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee may need to be available outside of typical work hours if necessary.

- The employee must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. The typical work day will include taking phone calls and typing for long periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL
Training opportunities will be a typical case for possible travel. After the training phase has been completed, overnight travel will not likely be needed. From time to time the employee may need to travel to and from job sites and may need to be a representative at bid meeting or pre-construction meetings.
