How to Care for Your Body as an Industrial Athlete

Arborists generally work at least 8 hours a day performing a sawdust triathlon, yet may not consider themselves as athletes. Arborists who care for themselves as athletes will prolong their careers by improving their health and reducing the risk of injury, while improving productivity. This talk will discuss why arborists should consider themselves as industrial athletes, and will include education on easy to implement health and wellness strategies to improve performance and general health, while reducing the risk of a work related injury.

Dr. Amanda Carpenter, PT, DPT, CProT, CEAS Amanda Carpenter, a doctor of physical therapy, is the ultimate body mechanic, dedicated to preventing musculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Carpenter knows many of these debilitating body injuries can be avoided. If you are already injured, Dr. Carpenter will assess your unique situation, design a restorative program, and get you back in the trees or bucket, feeling stronger and more productive. As an instructor, she will educate your workforce on their responsibilities in preventing a debilitating musculoskeletal disorder.

With a doctorate in physical therapy from Simmons College in Boston, MA; an MS in physical therapy from Nazareth College of Rochester, NY; and a BS in health science, as well as certifications in professional training and ergonomic assessments; Dr. Carpenter is an expert in the science and practice of ergonomics, working with industrial athletes.
