Portal to Research
The Portal to Research provides academics, students, and citizen scientists with links to existing
literature, search databases, and reference sites.
This portal also provides additional tips through a series of informative articles on searching literature,
conducting research, submitting manuscripts to refereed publications, and performing statistical analyses. Additional
links are provided for resources such as funding that are crucial to arboriculture and urban forestry research.
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: LITERATURE REVIEWS
The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) was founded, in part, as a means of supporting research in the care and management of trees, and as a means of facilitating dissemination of the research-based knowledge.
One of the primary initiatives of ISA’s strategic plan is to promote and facilitate worldwide technology transfer. To that end, ISA’s Science and Research Committee (SRC) has contracted a series of arboricultural literature reviews with the goal of synthesizing current knowledge and identifying research gaps in arboriculture and urban forestry.
Broad topics from which more focused literature reviews could be drawn include, but are not limited to:
- Arborist/Tree Worker Safety
- Economics of Pest Management
- Human Health and Trees
- Public Policy and Urban Forestry
- Response Growth in Trees/Biomechanics
- Trees and Acute Biotic/Abiotic Stressors
- Trees as Infrastructure
- Urban Tree Diversity/Barriers to Urban Tree Diversity
- Urban Tree Growth and Longevity
- Urban Trees and Water Management
