Upcoming Changes to ISA Shipping Rates

ISA’s shipping rates are being updated to address the continued rate increases from all carriers (UPS, FedEx and the US Postal Services).  Effective1 October 2019, ISA will charge the actual cost of shipping for all product orders. Shipping rates will be adjusted daily and will be based directly on the costs from our carriers. ISA will receive no revenue from this change.

Arborists of the Future — UGA Offers New Forestry Program

Students at the University of Georgia can now earn a degree in Natural Resources Management with an emphasis in Community Forestry and Arboriculture (COFA) through the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources.

Arborist Exchange Program

Since 2003, arborists from around the world have participated in the Arborist Exchange Program. The Arborist Exchange Program offers municipal foresters, utility arborists and tree nonprofit managers the opportunity to engage with colleagues and experience urban forestry challenges and successes in varying political and cultural settings.

ISA Elects new Member to the Board of Directors

Congratulations to Christopher Boza, a city arborist of Missoula, Montana, on his election to the ISA Board of Directors. Boza is a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter ISA and serving his first, three-year term.

Brian Kane Receives 2019 ISA President’s Award

Each year, the current president of the ISA Board of Directors selects one or more individuals who’ve made a significant and positive impact within the industry. At the 2019 ISA Annual International Conference and Trade Show held in Knoxville, Tennessee (US), President Pedro Mendes Castro honored Brian Kane with the 2019 President’s Award.

The ISA Awards of Distinction are the highest honors given by the organization. Recipients are nominated by ISA members and industry professionals. Nominations are then reviewed by the ISA Awards Committee who submit a roster for approval by the ISA Board of Directors.

ISA is proud of all the skilled arborists and climbers that competed in the 2019 International Tree Climbing Championship held at Lakeshore Park in Knoxville, Tennessee. With 74 total competitors, the 2019 ITCC included the most female competitors in its history with 28 women competitors.

North American Tree Climbing Competition — Volunteer Registration

Be a part of the action by volunteering for the North American Tree Climbing Competition (NATCC). The competition will take place 11 – 13 October 2019 at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. The NATCC is an exciting display of performance excellence and safe tree climbing practices. The deadline for volunteer registration is 13 September 2019. Southern Chapter ISA: A Toast to the Host

We greatly appreciate the Southern Chapter’s hard work to make the 2019 ITCC and ISA Annual International Conference and Trade Show in Knoxville, Tennessee, an excellent experience for this year’s attendees. The Southern Chapter’s Local Host Committee, chaired by David Vandergriff, went above and beyond to coordinate the onsite logistics and details at the local level for these events. The endless hours that were spent working on this project and the professionalism that you’ve shown are greatly appreciated. Your persistence, self-motivation and commitment encouraged the team. Thanks goes to the host committee members and all the other volunteers who dedicated their time and talents to make it all happen.
