Municipal Arborist

Location: College Park, MD
Salary:

The City of College Park is looking for a Full-time Arborist to supervise the planning, planting, maintenance, and treatment of trees located on city property and rights of way. In addition, the person will make recommendations for the types of trees to be planted in select areas of the city and public right of way. The successful candidate must be able to recognize tree hazards and diagnose trees for disease and/or insect infestations, evaluate safety concerns, and recommend treatments; maintain and update a computerized tree inventory, conduct tree inspections, and maintain records of tree maintenance work. Excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, and a valid driver's license with a good driving record are also requirements of the position. All applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Forestry, or related field supplemented by at least three years of experience or a combination of education and experience and have an ISA certification. Preference will be given to those who have: • Commercial pesticide applicator certification with categories of turf & ornamentals or right-of-way. • Maryland Roadside tree care expert Excellent benefit package.
