Forestry Inspector

Location: Madison, WI
Salary: $59,698.86 Annually

This is specialized technical work in the City of Madison Forestry Section of the Streets Division. The work involves performing a wide variety of projects and tasks relating to tree layout, planning, tree selection, and planting; tree risk assessment and maintenance of trees and shrubs on City property; the identification and treatment of tree disease and insect pests; the provision of technical assistance to other City agencies and the public; the preparation of necessary reports and informational materials; and providing inspection and direction to City Engineering or general contractors for proper construction practices near city trees.  The work is performed independently under the direction of the City Forester who reviews activities for technical accuracy and compliance to established policies and procedures, and may involve the assignment of work activities to lower level staff through supervisory personnel.
