Outreach & Marketing Manager

SUMMARY

The Outreach & Marketing Manager is responsible for promoting the overall mission of UAA by creating positive brand awareness for UAA specifically, and for the industry overall. The Outreach & Marketing Manager focuses on building and maintaining relationships to ensure the UAA is continually providing stakeholders with meaningful and relevant advocacy and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Build relationships with stakeholders in the electric utility industry and supporting organizations – Identify strategies for engaging both large and small electric utilities, including stakeholders not directly engaged in UVM (e.g., environmental departments, public relations, management), build relationships, and provide support when appropriate.
    1. Work to establish UAA as the resource of choice for managers and executives of small electric utilities that do not have professional UVM staff, particularly public-owned utilities, and rural electric cooperatives.
    2. Engage and build relationships with external stakeholders such as environmental non-governmental organizations, industry groups, etc.
  2. Provide oversight and leadership for all marketing efforts – Ensure positive and increasing brand awareness for UAA.
    1. Improve member awareness and engagement.
    2. Reach and recruit utility vegetation management industry professionals to become new members.
    3. Manage UAA relationship with marketing consultants.
    4. Responsible for the oversight of:
      1. Brand control
      2. Social media
      3. Monthly membership e-newsletter
      4. Tradeshow and Conference presence – including booth
    5. Work with volunteer and staff teams to engage sponsors, advertisers, and exhibitors.
    6. Engage volunteers in an advisory marketing committee.
  3. Lead UAA efforts to raise public awareness for the industry – Support the overall industry by building positive public awareness of the industry and the career opportunities it offers.
  4. Reporting – Provide leadership with information and metrics related to the results of the marketing and outreach strategic initiatives and efforts.
    1. Develop monthly reporting to provide insight into trends and opportunities.
    2. Annually prepare and present strategic initiative progress report(s) to Board.
  5. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University, and at least 7+ years related experience.
  • High energy individual with a demonstrated ability to develop and sustain relationships.
  • Demonstrated marketing research, analysis, and strategy development skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed and proficient at prioritizing work.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a growth mindset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365; including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.

  • Works out of a home office
  • Work may require occasional evening and/or weekend work
  • Out of town travel is required, 5 – 15%
