Seasonal Forestry Worker

Location: Highland Park, IL
Salary: $22.01/hr

The City of Highland Park, IL seeks a Seasonal Forestry Worker. 8 month temporary appointment, 40hrs/week, no benefits. Excellent opportunity for a college student graduating in Spring 2019. Or anyone else looking to break into municipal forestry.

Assist the City Forester with forestry-related programs including administration of parkway tree planting & maintenance programs, code enforcement, tree health monitoring programs (Dutch Elm Disease and Emerald Ash Borer), and tree inventory and database management.
The Seasonal Forestry Worker performs work in the following primary areas:
• Assist the City Forester with the enforcement of City Codes relating to trees and shrubs.
• Systematically canvasses the City for dead, diseased or hazardous trees.
• Collects information needed to update and keep the computerized tree inventory current.
• Assist City Forester with spring and fall tree planting
• Provide follow up of completed tree removal lists.
• Performs mailings, files documents and performs other office work as required.
