Consulting Utility Forester

Location: Eugene, OR

Wright Tree Service is currently seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to start in the Eugene/Springfield, OR area on a full-time basis. Wright Tree Service provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across the country. Safety is always our highest value. Job Responsibilities

  • Identification, inspection and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines
  • Submit inspection results to clients
  • Conduct tree and brush inventories
  • Inspect and evaluate hazard trees
  • Understand how long tree work takes
  • Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area
  • Helps enforce on-the-job safety practices
  • Carries and utilizes materials, tools, and equipment at work site
  • Services truck and equipment. Keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat an orderly fashion. Reports the need for equipment and truck repairs to supervisor
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • One or more years of related experience as a Line Clearance Journeyman
  • ISA certification preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Superior species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Ability to read and follow maps
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus)
  • Utility Specialist Certification preferred
  • State of Oregon herbicide license preferred
  • Degree or experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Conservation or related field preferred
  • First aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire
