To be eligible for the discount rate, you MUST be a current member of ISA AND a current member of an ISA chapter. Please note: ISA certification fees are separate and distinct from ISA and ISA chapter dues.
ISA and ISA Chapter Member: $115 USD
Non-member: $165 USD
Each time you take a computer based exam there will be a $125 USD administration fee. There will be no exceptions for this fee.
*Please note that payment will be processed once your application is submitted. Approval to take the exam is based on meeting the experience requirements set forth in the application handbook.
Examination Eligibility Requirement
The ISA Certification Board requires a candidate to
have a minimum of 18 months (1.5 years) of climbing experience in arboriculture. The candidate must also show valid proof of training in a physical (practice) aerial rescue, CPR, and first aid. (See application section.
Documentation of work experience is required with submittal of application. Letter(s) of reference from your current or previous Employer(s) is acceptable.
If you are self-employed or own your own company, you will be required to submit three letters of reference with your application. References may be in the form of copies of invoices, contracts, and/or business licenses.
The candidate must also show valid proof of training in a physical (practice) aerial rescue, CPR, and first aid. See application section for acceptable verification options.
The ISA Certified Tree Worker/Climber Specialist® Examination is made up of two parts. A fifty (50) question multiple choice knowledge exam, and a skills exam. You must pass both parts to obtain the certification credential. Each part is explained in detail in this booklet. The knowledge portion can be taken at any time the ISA Certified Arborist exam is held at an ISA Chapter or at a Pearson Vue Testing Center. The knowledge exam can also be taken on the same day as the skills exam during designated chapter sponsored Tree Worker exams. You will need to specify on your application that you are taking the entire exam or which part of the exam you wish to take.
Confirmation of Enrollment
The ISA Certified Arborist/Climber Specialist® paper/pencil exam application must be received at least 12 WORKING DAYS prior to the date of the exam for which you are applying. If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail within 7-10 business days. If you do not receive this letter, please contact the ISA Certification Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 217.355.9411.
If you are applying for the ISA Certified Arborist/Climber Specialist® exam via computer based testing (CBT) you may submit your application at any time. If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation letter by email with instruction on how to schedule your exam within 90 days. If you do not receive this email confirmation within 7-10 business days, please contact the ISA Certification Department at email@example.com or by phone at 217.355.9411.
