The mission of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Science and
Research Committee (SRC) is to increase awareness and access to research; foster exchange
among the research community and professionals; and identify important new opportunities for
science and research that add value to arboriculture and urban forestry. One way the SRC is
fulfilling this mission is by commissioning a series of literature reviews that focus on key
subject areas in arboriculture and urban forestry. The subjects under investigation are:
pruning; trees and risk; root growth and development; root management; and tree biomechanics.
The deliverables for each literature review project include: a compilation of
references in the form of a searchable database, an article for Arboriculture & Urban
Forestry, and a summary article for Arborist News. In addition, SRC has hosted
researcher summits on each topic. The discussions and research priorities outlined in these
summits are summarized in the form of a white paper. This site contains these deliverables for
each of the literature review projects. It is being updated as researchers submit their
deliverables.

Each literature review project generated a list of hundreds of references
and citations. These references are available through the Online Reference
Database (ORD). The ORD may be searched by title, author, source, keyword,
or year within a single topic area or across all subjects.
