Description:
Palms are an important part of Hawaii’s landscapes. This workshop will focus on palms with particular attention to Pritchardias, Hawaii’s native palms, and abiotic disorders and pests of palms. Participants will have a hands-on opportunity to practice their diagnostic skills and will learn about new palm species appropriate for planting in our landscapes.
Our keynote speaker, Dr. Donald Hodel of the University of California Davis, is a world leader in palm taxonomy and horticulture. He received his Masters of Science degree from the University of Hawaii in Tropical Horticulture and worked in Hawaii 1975-1980.
