Title: Manipulating Rigging Forces

Summary: We will use multiple dynamometers to demonstrate how some of the laws of physics can help reduce loads at the rigging point. We will begin by discussing how the block loading factor, angle of deflection and the load itself determine the amount of force placed on the rigging point. Discussion will begin with simple rigging scenarios and move toward more advanced scenarios as the workshop progresses. The choices we make when developing a rigging plan can affect the success of the job and help to mitigate some of the risks associated with tree removal tasks. These concepts will empower arborists to identify stronger anchor point configurations and utilize them effectively to avoid tree failure.
