Presentation Description
Title: Roger Williams Park: Managing Trees as Elements of Historic Design
Summary: Trees shape our experience of the landscape due to their sheer size and presence.
Municipal arborists must often consider how the trees we plant and manage influence
streetscape or park design, thinking beyond tree health, safety, environmental benefits, and other urban forest priorities. This talk will show how trees and woodlands are crucial to the historic design of Roger Williams Park, and how the original design intent has been enhanced (or obscured) over time.
Douglas Still, City Forester, Providence, RI, United States
