Title: Minimizing Liablility Before the Limb Falls

Summary: This presentation focuses on eliminating liability and reducing litigation costs through the demonstration of proactive actions that win over jurors and prevail in court. In addition to winning cases, strong defensive preparation will lead to fewer cases filed and lower settlements. Some of the proactive strategies discussed include: becoming an effective tree risk manager; implementing systematic inspection and maintenance policies; conducting a legal exposure audit of policies and documents for litigation adequacy; risk-assessing your own property and equipment; initiating defensive record keeping and documentation procedures; creating and teaching litigation awareness and accident prevention before the accident; and maintaining an accident data collection system.
