Presentation Description
Title: Incorporating Trees into Urban Rainwater Management Systems
Summary: Trees are well suited to become a part of a city’s rainwater management system, but must have sufficient soil resources and produce large canopies that reduce the impact of rainfall, absorb and retain water, and reduce peak flows into regional water systems. Urban foresters and arborists can be important initiators of the use of trees for rainwater management, but need more information to discuss options and make reasonable proposals during the budget and design stages of urban development. This session is intended to provide attendees with a basic understanding of these considerations.
