Presentation Description
Title: Assessing Continuing Education as a Method of Advancing the field of Urban Forestry.
Summary: As the field of urban forestry advances, many organizations have been faced with the responsibility of providing continued education for urban forestry professionals. These training opportunities are often public conferences and workshops or private sector training sessions. However, many of these programs are not being evaluated, which makes it difficult to determine if they are worth the expense.
This presentation will show how to develop a comprehensive evaluation, using Kirkpatrick’s four-leveled evaluation method, of a continuing education opportunity (workshop/conference/short-course). It also highlights the results of an effectiveness evaluation completed for the Municipal Forester Institute.
