Title: Understanding Risk: Principles and Practice

Summary: Risk assessment and management are important aspects of our industry, although principles necessary for effective programs are often neglected. Fundamentals of risk issues are discussed, including definition of terms, understanding of principles, decision making, and risk thresholds. Real world examples will be applied. Participants learn to develop professional expertise in assessing tree risk so that seemingly high risk trees can be reasonably retained. Discussion of professional practice and defending decisions in court will follow.
