Presentation Description

Title: Managing Urban Forests in the Face of Climate Change

Summary: Urban forests have a role to play in reducing levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere; however, the growth, health, and stability of urban forests are threatened by climate change. The goal of this session is for managers and scientists to share information to direct future research and influence urban forest policy and management. Four presentations on related subjects by international authorities will be followed by a facilitated discussion among a panel of arborists, urban foresters, and scientists to discuss future directions for ISA, practice, and research. The moderator will then facilitate discussion among panelists and the audience.
