We live south west of Houston, tx and my norfolk island pine has a problem. I tell you where we live so you will understand my climate. I have had the tree for 3 years. My husband bought it for me for Christmas and it was about 2 foot tall at the time. It has two main trunks and has grown tremendously and beautiful. It spent the summer outside with only mother nature to tend to it. (extremely hot this past summer)..It lives in the yard as long as the weather is permitting. Under 50 and it comes in the house for the night. Now for my problem. I noticed a split in the trunk about 6 inches long (vertical split) It has yellow puss looking stuff coming out of it. What is it and what do I do about it. I went to the local Extension Office and they don't have a horticulural agent right now, so off I went to the library. No help there. Please can you help. The tree has new growth on both stalks and otherwise looks very healthy. No yellowing needles and no brown areas. Has been
repotted yearly and fed regularly during growth periods. margy
