I've had several Norfolk Island Pines. They seem to be very slow growing, even when they are happy and healthy. I put one out on my deck several years ago, and the top layer is still sunburned, although it has a great deal of new growth since then. I think the best you can hope for is that the basic plant will recover, although the dry, damaged parts may be around for a long time.
