My mothers back yard has some unwanted maple saplings that have sprung up in the last couple of years, and they are a little bit out of control. Quite frankly, that particular section of the yard has been neglected.

My question is: After I cut down these saplings, how can I kill the roots so that those trees don't start regrowing.

Any answer I can get to help me solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
