What kind of stumps? How long ago were the trees cut? Are they resprouting at the base or is new growth poping up all over the place? The following is a generic method of stump/root killing species that propagate by root suckering. Although there are no guarantees a translocating herbicide applied directly to a 'freshly' cut stump (cambial layer) should start the killing process in motion. If you have sprouts or suckers emerging either from the stump or in the surrounding landscape after a while they should be treated with a hack and squirt method. Hack em off and squirt a translocation herbicide directly onto the 'fresh' cut. Translocating and fresh are the operative words here for a successful kill. In Canada a herbicide with the tradename of Roundup, active ingredient glyphosate is available at local nurseries. A 50% roundup 50% water solution painted or squirted on the fresh cuts should suffice. Keep hacking and squirting at any new growth until they no longer appear. Good
luck. Dorothy
