I suspect that Nelda's comment reflects a growing sense among many of us that this discussion group could be greatly improved. It reflects very poorly on all people who claim to know something about trees, no matter how much or how little, if the postings, questions, and especially the responses, are rude, offensive, and generally ill mannered. The web page committee has had a lot of debate about how we might improve the site. But, whatever we can do, in the absence of monitoring and screening every posting, the best action is for all of us to ensure that we use the site wisely. It is here to disseminate information, exchange ideas, help others better understand trees. If anyone using the discussion site cannot abide by such simple tenets, then please refrain from using this site. It reflects poorly on us all, and does nothing to help other people in the world improve their knowledge of trees. If you have a burning issue, or disagreement that absolutely requires you to send it to a s
pecific person, then do
it privately; keep your ego's in closet and please use this site for its intended purpose; helping any interested person, regardless of whether or not they belong to the ISA, to gain more knowledge about trees. Anything less than this is an abuse of a freedom. A freedom that we should all respect and be using and sharing wisely.
